I think that Jack didn't want to kill the deer because he thought it was beautiful and that Jack cares about all living things including animals.Also because Jack as we learned has a nose that bleeds at every shock he gets so once his dad skins the deer Jack's nose will be like dragon flames but it's blood not fire.
I think Jack didn't want to kill the deer because he didn't want to hear the cry's for help from the deer or maybe because like Emebet H said he thought it was beautiful and he wanted it to live happily. I think he also didn't want to kill it because he knew he would feel bad and would feel guilty for killing a harmless animal.
I think he didn't kill the deer because he realized that the deer was such a beautiful creature and that this is there home. The deer is a living and breathing creature just like Jack himself. It should be able to live happily. Aslo he probably felt really guilty inside and didn't like the feeling
I think that Jack didn't want to kill the deer because when he first saw the creature he realize that it was such a beautiful deer and the its a living breathing thing like himself and he probably thought that if Jack is living happy the deer should too and every creature has a family, you could say that it's kind of love from first sight.
