Jack is a 12 year old kid in Norvelt who is loaned out to neighbour Mrs.Volker. He is doing a job for Mrs.Volker where Mrs.Volker has obituaries and he types them down to send to the News. Jack nose bleeds at every shock he gets or if he is nervous or if he is lying. Jack is grounded for he summer by his Mom for mowing her crop of corn but he can still go to help Mrs.Volker.
Did you feel a bit awkward or uncomfortable when Jack's mom said she would act like Jack's taller girlfriend and they held hands. Why is that your reaction?
This is a picture of Jack entering Ms.Volkers house. When he entered the kitchen he sees Ms.Volker with her hands in the pott.
How do you think Jack felt about coming out of the hospital without having any treatment with Dr.Mertz? Explain why.
This is a picture from Chapter 7 when Jack's mother took Jack to Dr.Mertz hospital and Jack's mother tried to bargain with the doctor, but they ended up leaving without having an appointment with Dr.Mertz.
How do you think Jack felt when his mom brought up the rifle in front of his dad?
