Maybe so then he could spend some time with her while she's calm and not thinking about dead people or maybe he just wanted to take her to church so he could pay back for all the times she got him out of doing chores/ work.
Maybe because he wanted to just relax with her and drive the car.
Maybe because she complains and yells at you for the slightest mishap,he wanted to see the nice side of Mrs Volker.
Maybe he just wanted to drive for a long time and see the good and relaxed side of Miss.Volker.
