I relate to Jack Gantos in 2 ways.Number 1:I always get into trouble. Pages throughout the book shows him getting in trouble from people(mostly his mother).But the reason he gets into trouble is because he does things that are not very smart,sometimes they aren't smart at all. Like some pages are 11, 19 , 46, 51 ,79,80, and 81. Those are only from about one quarter of the book. I mean I would have probably done some of the things he did but not all of them. I get in trouble from as simple as not doing my chore to not listening to my mom. Sure I shouldn't do that but hey I can blame it on being naive. Page 45 is something I definitely think was doing something that was not smart. How is he supposed to get the money.Number 2:Our dad's are not around a lot. His dad is in the military and my dad just never shows up. This reminds me a lot about my life. Yes they are not the same thing. One is saving a country from mass destruction and one just doesn't care to show up. This is hard on kids. Not having your parent around all of the time.They miss dance recitals, baseball games, things that are important to the kid. Why parents do this to kids I don't know. But as you start to miss things in your childs life,years of your childs life the love they once had for you just disappears.
