Why do you think that Jack was playing with his father's item?

  1. Jack was playing with his fathers items because Jack thought that the items were safe and old. Because he liked them so much and he liked pretending to be in a war everytime he watches war movies and uses them as target practices.

  2. Maybe because his father told him a lot of stuff about the war and it really interested about with guns. Or maybe he wants to work in the Navy or Military so he wants to learn how to use guns properly or he might even just do it for fun.

  3. I personally think that he was playing with them because he doesn't feel a sense of attachment to his dad. He feels alone. If I was a boy without my dad I would feel that too. When I posted this question I wasn't looking for a inside the box question. I was looking for answers that showed a sense of inner emotion.

  5. I think that he does that because later on in the book Jack reads books about wars and that tells me that Jack when he play's with the Guns he feels like he is fighting for his country like the army.

  6. He probabley wanted his dad to love him more so he was probabley playing with the guns to get practice for the hunting trip that they are going to have on Thanksgiving so he could impress his dad when he got to shot the gun.
