He probably felt scared, nervous and frightened because Jack's mother was most likely to tell Jack's dad so that would be the second time he heard it and every time Jack heard his mother tell his father he might get more scared because his father would probably get into more rage.
I think Jack felt shocked nervous and worried then after the dad's response he might have felt less scared and might have hoped that his punishment wasn't going to be major.
