Maybe she is proud of giving coal miners aspirins because she has a chance to help them so she does and she feels really good about helping others. Maybe she just likes to give people aspirins weather or not it helps people but it still makes her feel good.
I think Mrs.Volker is proud of giving the coal miners asprin because it can help them and she probably feel good about helping people that is in need that probably why she is so proud.
